Due to changes in my schedule earlier this week, I had been forced to write my post for this ahead of time instead of today. For this reason, I am going leave today’s Update post brief and instead focus on the topic of the week. While following up on contemporary political trends, I came across two articles on Substack from several months ago, describing how two notable trends in recent US politics. On the one hand, there is a growing belief in the “American Right” is in the process of abandoning the old Conservatism of the Reagan Revolution, which remains forthcoming as of late. And on the other hand, there is a newfound question that what passes as “US politics” and the “Culture Wars” are in final analysis a sort of identity politics predicated on what somebody does or does not adhere to. What I would like to do is combine the two perspectives, creating a synthetic picture into something more insightful because I felt both Substack articles contained pieces of a much larger puzzle.
