I wrote a piece called Are American Libertarians Growing Balls? – Zer0 H0urs (wordpress.com) in January because I was beginning to the think Milei’s cavalier attitude was rubbing off on him. The verdict is not yet out on Milei—he won and there’s lessons to be learned from that. The verdict will be determined by whether he’ll actually dollarize. He can gut the State all he wants. Eventually, he’ll need to dollarize if he wants to bring cumulative inflation down. This is where the rubber will meet the road, as they say. It is at this point labor markets will have to adjust to the influx of massive unemployment. Milei will either “allow” for a reduction in the workweek (if he truly is a believer in self-regulation) or go crawling back to quasi-Peronism (fascist fiscal policies).
