Some interesting things happened recently. Last week, I learned about a recent development involving something which I had written around the same time I started The Fourth Estate. “Election Betting” just became legal in America after a Federal ruling made it possible, which the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CTFC) later tried to appeal the decision. As of this writing, I have no information indicating that the CTFC succeeding in its appeal. It is still possible for Americans to bet on the outcome of the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Speaking of which, today is Election Day in America, and I would like to point out that I have no intentions whatsoever on voting. Who assumes control of the Presidency and the Congress, not to mention the States, will remain under the dominion of the same Democratic-Republican Party. The outcome alone does not concern me as much as how certain segments of the American people will react to it.
In the last Presidential Election, in 2020, I was anticipating some kind of negative reaction to its outcome. There has been an ongoing trend since the 2000 Presidential Election to doubt the veracity of the election results concerning the Presidency. That people would try to protest the motions to inaugurate the next President and eventually learn to accept the outcome going forward.
Will there be another negative reaction to the outcome for the 2024 Presidential Election? The question will get its own answer the following day, when the votes are counted, and the Electors of the Electoral College vote in the direction of the Popular Vote. Always remember that Presidents are decided by the Electoral College, whose Electors must vote in the direction of the American Electorate.
