I had to figure out whether I should be posting something today or not. This is because I am currently delving into another topic related to the Work-Standard. If the theme of last week’s posts were technological and pertained to the conduct of Council Democracy in the National Intranet, the posts for this week will be more of a philosophical nature.
Allow me to begin by addressing something that caught my attention over the years while developing the Work-Standard. What is the purpose of economics? Is it really about making rational choices in trying to make do with scarce resources? Or is economics, as Karl Polanyi argued in The Great Transformation, the study of how a Totality lives their everyday lives within their socioeconomic and geographical environment? Keep those two questions in mind as I will be addressing one of the unsolved mysteries of the Economics discipline.
