It is one thing to adhere to Hamiltonianism; it is a whole different matter altogether to co-opt aspects of Hamiltonianism to promote an entirely different Weltanschauung. As I have long suspected, what passes as “American Conservatism” today is essentially a type of Classical Liberalism accompanied by Economic Liberalism and Social Liberalism. I finally figured out the origin point for when and how the Jeffersonians decided to co-opt aspects of Hamiltonianism for their own purposes. Even though FDR and the New Deal was the apex, the trend itself actually began a century earlier. I am looking forward to discussing my findings later today.
